Restore building status to residential: BMC issues notice to Sonu Sood

Sonu Sood

BMC has instructed actor Sonu Sood to restore his six-storey Shiv Sagar building in Juhu from a hotel to residential premises within two weeks. The actor had turned his building into a hotel for the front line workers in the wake of rising covid cases in Maharashtra without seeking prior permission. According to BMC, a residential building cannot be converted into a hotel for commercial uses and is against the rules.

In response to the notice issued by BMC’s K-West ward, the actor has assured his full compliance with the instructions given. In addition to the restoration, Sonu Sood has also been asked to remove all 'unauthorised constructions and alterations'.The complaint was registered against the actor earlier this year by the activist Ganesh Kusmulu. “The BMC and police have tried to delay the matter.

The illegal construction must be demolished and an FIR filed immediately. I will move the Lokayukta against those who fail to take action if Sood and his architects do not demolish the structures within 15 days as per the letter,” Kusmulu said. Later in February, the actor has appealed to the High Court for interim relief which was dismissed. The actor has earned heaps of praises for his tremendous help and support to people suffering from crises, particularly the weaker sections. He continues to extend all kinds of assistance to those seeking his help all over the country.
