Chandigarh, Sep 25 (PTI) Seven new faces are likely to be included in the Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi-led cabinet while five ministers who were in the former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh-led government are likely to be excluded. Sources gave this information on Saturday.After the final list of ministers to be included in the new cabinet was prepared, Chief Minister Channi met Governor Banwarilal Purohit at Raj Bhavan on Saturday afternoon at around 12.30 pm.
After meeting the governor, Channi told reporters that the swearing-in ceremony for the new ministers would be held on Sunday evening at 4.30 pm.Channi met the Governor just hours after returning from Delhi. In Delhi, he discussed the final phase with the party high command regarding the faces to be included in the new cabinet.
According to sources Pargat Singh, Rajkumar Verka, Gurkeerat Singh Kotli, Amarinder Singh Raja Vading, Kuljit Nagra and Rana Gurjit Singh may join the cabinet. At the same time, the party has decided to retain Vijay Inder Singla, Manpreet Singh Badal, Brahm Mohindra, Sukhbir Singh Sarkaria, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Aruna Chaudhary, Razia Sultan and Bharat Bhushan Ashu, who were ministers in the Amarinder Singh government.
Sources said that the five MLAs, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Gurpreet Singh Kangar and Sunder Sham Arora, who were ministers in the Amarinder Singh-led cabinet, may be cut from the cabinet.
The names of the Channi-led cabinet were agreed upon after a meeting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other senior party members in the national capital.
