When Covid-19 cases were at their peak in March and April, the hospital administration hired these attendants with eligibility criteria of 10th passed on a temporary basis. These attendants had to take care of COVID patients by providing them food, water, and required help to the nursing staff.
When the covid cases started decreasing, these attendants were asked to leave. One of these attendants stated. “We did not get a salary, and we are being fired without notice. The women being are asked to keep physical relations with supervisors and if they refuse they are asked to leave.”
Gujarat Government on Wednesday has formed a three-member committee to investigate the matter.
“I appreciate the girl who has come forward and put this whole thing forward. Many times such incidents take place, but girls are not able to come forward and speak out," said Jamnagar MP Poonamben.
