Stats: RCB captain Virat Kohli’s record in the IPL

Virat Kohli

It's the end of an era but not in full swing yet! The Royal Challengers Bangalore lost in qualification with four wickets against the Kolkata Knight Riders and were eliminated from the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2021. This also ended Virat Kohli's career as captain of the RCB. At the beginning of this season, Kohli had announced that he would resign as captain of the RCB after the game.

When Kohli and his boys did their best to lead RCB to the elusive title, they pulled back again. This means that the talismanic Indian batter can never win the RCB Skipper IPL title. As one of the game's greats, Kohli is an intimidating fact for cricket fans around the world. In particular, the 32-year-old will continue to play at the RCB.

However, these DRS calls are not initiated and answered. Kohli's first managerial position at IPL dates back to 2011. He was managing the crew when permanent skipper Daniel Vettori was injured. The New Zealander also led Bangalore the following season. After a poor performance, however, Vettori retired and Kohli took the lead.

RCB Cricketer Captain was born in Delhi in 2013 and an era has begun. Kohli hit the bat with one sensational hit after another. He even impressed everyone with his leadership qualities. However, he couldn't do the ultimate job and get the RCB title. In total, he led RCB in 140 games and made them famous 66 times. While RCB has lost 70 games during this span, four have been called off.

Meanwhile, Kohli has seen RCB make the playoffs three times in nine seasons after being a full-time captain. Meanwhile, the Bangalore-based franchise had its best season in 2016 when it finished runner-up. In other seasons, however, the Challengers don't have much to offer.

Kohli did exceptionally well with the bat during his tenure. In fact, his record of 4,881 for any IPL captain is the best. Big guns like MS Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma and David Warner and behind Kohli in this elite list.
