The Supreme Court took the decision to allow the unmarried women to appear in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), and naval academy examination (NDA) Examination according to an official statement released on Friday. The move follows a Supreme Court Directive last month.
According to the order released by the Supreme Court, in compliance with the apex court’s interim direction, UPSC further decided that it will allow and open the application on upsconline.nic.in for the examination where the unmarried women candidates are allowed to apply, who are otherwise allowed based on their terms regarding the nationality, age, educational qualifications etc. according to the official statement released by the court.
The vacancies and the physical standards for the application of the women candidate are further to be notified, once the defence ministry announces officially. Furthermore the application timings are open for the candidates from 24th September, 2021 (till6pm), according to the statement released by UPSC, and the application window will be open up to 08.10.21 (till 6PM). After that no more application will be accepted by any of the candidates.
The women candidates are not required to pay any fees regarding the application of this examination, according to a statement. The examination is scheduled to take in 14th of November 2021, said by an official. The major step forward towards the gender equality, the apex court on August 18 decided to allow the eligible women, to take the examination for the further admission of the national defence.
The application of the women for the UPSC and the NDA examination, will remain a provisional subject to further find out the final outcome of a Writ petition pending in the court or such orders which are further passed by the Supreme Court and the action of the government of India, according to a statement released.
