Supreme Government asked explanation on the prizing of the COVID vaccine from the Central Government.
The price of rupees 400 per dose for COVID-19 vaccine,’ Covishield,’ for government hospitals, and rupees 600 per dose for private hospitals, as announced by the Serum Institute of India(SII).On Tuesday, Supreme Court asked the Union of India to explain the pricing of the Covid-19 vaccines and other necessary items. Justice DY Chandrachud asked for clarification from UOI in its affidavit on the basis adopted on the pricing of the vaccines.
“During the national crisis, the Supreme court cannot be a mute spectator. The role of the supreme court is complimentary,” the SC said.
The Apex court also asked every state government to file their replies by Thursday 6 pm connected with their states related to the shortage of oxygen and other health infrastructure.
“The High court shall not be restrained in passing any directions,” the Apex court said as they hear cases in their respective states, and they know the ground situation better.
