In an attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records, the 'Green India Challenge' (GIC), one of the country's biggest green projects, held a massive event on Sunday in Telangana's Adilabad district, sowing "one million saplings in one hour," according to GIC organizers.
Jogu Ramanna, a former minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Adilabad MLA, celebrated his 58th birthday during the occasion.
Five lakh seedlings were planted in a degraded forest area spanning 200 acres in Durganagar, Adilabad rural district, utilizing the Miyawaki model (using the renowned Miyawaki afforestation process), according to the event.
The event, which saw active involvement from the public, TRS party members, MLAs, political leaders, and others, was participated by Telangana Minister for Forests, Environment, and Science and Technology Allola Indra Karan Reddy and TRS Rajya Sabha MP Joginipally Santosh Kumar, founder of GIC, according to a publication.
In Bela Mandal, 2 lakh saplings were planted in over 45,000 homes, and 1,80,000 seedlings were planted in Bela Mandal. According to the announcement, volunteers planted 1,20,000 saplings on each side of R&B (Roadways & Buildings) roads. This was accomplished by splitting the whole region into ten sectors, each with more than 30,000 TRS members and residents participating.
