President Narinder Batra asked Delhi Chairman Arvind Kejriwal to let them operate from their office, complete the administrative work associated with the next Tokyo Olympics.
The Indian Olympic Association office was closed after the Delhi Government ordered all premises not falling under the main category to be shut down. The Delhi Government had ordered the closure of all buildings not in the basic variety because of the COVID-19 rise in the national capital. "We request and appeal to You Sir to allow the office of Indian Olympic Association to function from Monday 7th June 2021 to enable IOA to upload the mandatory required data," Batra wrote in his letter to Kejriwal.
"An Indian Tokyo Olympics contingent has to travel to Tokyo in July 2021, filling in a lot of comprehensive data for about 240 athletes and officials in Tokyo," he said. "This work requires a tremendous amount of time, and we are now running out of time due to lockdown and will make it difficult to complete uploading the data by working from home," he further wrote.
