The government of Uttar Pradesh announced today that the families of four farmers killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident yesterday have 45 lakhs worth of volunteers and officials.The state government also announced that the retired Supreme Court judge would investigate the case.Uttar Pradesh Police Department Additional Director General (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said: "Government will give ₹45 lakhs and a government job to the families of four farmers who died in Lakhimpur Kheri yesterday.
The injured will be given ₹10 lakhs. FIR will be registered based on farmers' complaints. Retired High Court judge will probe the matter."The ADG also clarified that no party president is allowed to visit the district because article 144 of the CRC is in force.Meanwhile, Naresh Tikait, the national president of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU), urged BJP workers not to travel to the Uttar Pradesh countryside as farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri have been devastated by the violence.
In a speech on Sunday evening to a Kisan Panchayat at the BKU headquarters in Sisoli, he claimed that the BJP was trying to discredit the farmers' agitation by provoking violence.He urged BJP staff not to travel to the countryside to avoid unwanted incidents.The comments came after eight people were killed on Sunday when violence erupted at a farmers 'protest ahead of UP Deputy Prime Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya's visit to Lakhimpur at a farmers' protest. which killed both farmers and BJP workers.
