It stated that on Tuesday, 708 proposals for about 3,61 lakh dwellings were accepted by the Central Government under the PRADHAN Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY U).
The Government, therefore, remarked that to date, the total number of houses sanctioned by PMAY(U) amounted to 112.4 lakh.
It also stated the building of up to 82.5 lakh homes, of which 48.31 lakh were finalized/laden. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has said that the mission's total investment is ₹7.35 lakh, with a total of 96,067 crores.
The Ministry emphasized six 'Light House Projects (LHP), foundations established by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January of this year, at the 54th sitting of the Central Sanction and Monitoring Committee (CSTC) under PMAY-U.
Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA), said during the meeting, "The LHPs are being constructed at Agartala, Chennai, Lucknow, Ranchi, Rajkot, and Indore. "These LHPs should galvanize all concerned departments involved in construction. Use of cutting-edge technology should be replicated and scaled up".
He also opened a recently constructed Panchkula, Haryana, demo house project that would be operated on rental as a working women's dormitory.
