Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi
Punjab Cheif Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resolve the issue of peasant protests and resume dialogue with peasant demonstrators.
“I demanded that the three laws should be withdrawn,” Channi told reporters after meeting Prime Minister Modi.
Meanwhile, two days after Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as chairman of the Punjab Congress and the state's ruling party fell into further turmoil, a key problem that caused the crisis appears to have been resolved by a "contentious " nomination scheme.
Sources told that the two sides had agreed in a three-hour meeting to leave the decision to appoint an attorney general to the high command of Congress.
On Thursday, Amarinder Singh put the rumours aside and confirmed that he would not join the BJP but leave Congress. In an interview with NDTV, Singh, who was due to resign as CM earlier this month, said he was not "treated in this Manner".
