Uttarakhand government suspends Char Dham yatra; priests will continue their rituals.
Amid the spike in COVID 19 cases, the Uttarakhand government on Thursday has suspended all Char Dham Yatras. Even locals are not allowed inside the shrine while the priests can continue their daily rites and rituals.
This year, the portals of the Yamunotri shrine will be opened on May 14 at 12.15 pm, while the portals of the Gangotri shrine will be opened on May 15 on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya, at around 7.30 am. Portals of Kedarnath will be opened on May 17, and the next day is the date for opening the portals of the Badrinath shrine.
The portals of the four Himalayan shrines, Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri, will open on scheduled dates. No visitors or any locals will be permitted; only priests can perform their worships.
