Varun Gandhi along with Mother Maneka Gandhi dropped from the list of top BJP leaders.
In Lakhimpur Kheri, BJP MP Varun and his mother Maneka Gandhi, who are constantly targeting the Yogi government, were shown the way out of the national executive by the BJP. This news has come at a time when the government is under increasing pressure from the opposition to take action against Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni and his son Ashish Mishra, accused in this case. All the parties including Congress, SP and BSP are raising questions about the silence regarding the action on both. It is believed that by ousting Varun Gandhi from the executive, the party high command has not only punished him for his rebellious attitudes. It is also evident from the fact that three big faces within the BJP sympathizing with the farmers' movement - Maneka Gandhi, Varun Gandhi and Virendra Singh - have been thrown out of the national executive by the party.
Why silence on Teni and action on Varun?
BJP may have acted on Varun and sent an ultimatum to him to handle his rhetoric, but this action can give an opportunity to the opposition parties to attack. This question can be asked that Varun Gandhi, who was questioning the Yogi government regarding the death of farmers in Lakhimpur, was silenced, while no action has been taken against the Union Minister so far. Not only this, his son Ashish Mishra, who has an FIR registered in this case and has very serious allegations of trampling four farmers, has not even been arrested yet.
Varun Gandhi is questioning the Yogi government regarding the incident in Lakhimpur Kheri on the other side of the party line. He posted the purported video of it on Twitter on Thursday, questioning that protesters cannot be silenced through murder. Gandhi, the BJP MP from Pilibhit, wrote that the video is absolutely clear. Protesters cannot be silenced through murder. The blood of innocent farmers has been shed, its accountability should be fixed. Justice should be given before the message of arrogance and cruelty enters the mind of every farmer. Not only this, he had also written a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday requesting for a CBI inquiry into the entire matter under the supervision of the Supreme Court. In a letter to CM Yogi, Varun had sought action against all those involved in the incident by registering a murder case under Section 302 of the IPC.
The BJP has kept a kind of silence regarding the Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni, who was at the center of the Lakhimpur incident. Home Minister Amit Shah had summoned him to Delhi on Wednesday. Both met but till now no action has been taken on Teni. The farmers allege that Ajay Mishra Teni's son Ashish Mishra had not only attacked the protesting farmers in Lakhimpur but also fired. After tremendous pressure, a case has been registered against Ashish Mishra but arrest has not been made yet. Ajay Mishra Teni claims that his son was not at the scene. Ashish Mishra is also making the same claim.
