Virbhadra Singh, Former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh
The 87-year-old Congress leader got affected by Covid-19 twice in the past three months and has recovered from it and kept under observation at IGMC. He passed away on Thursday, 8th July 2021, after suffering from a cardiac attack in Shimla.
It is said that the Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister was on the ventilator for support at IGMC (Indira Gandhi Medical College) after he suffered from a cardiac attack on 5th July 2021. The Senior Medical Superintendent of IGMC, Janak Raj said that Singh passed away around 3:30 am in the morning of Thursday.
It is said that Singh was affected and recovered from Covid twice. He was a nine-time MLA and six-time CM. He was elected as the state legislative assembly for the first time in the year 1983. At present, he was an MLA from the Akri assembly constituency in the district of Solan.
He served in the Lok Sabha in the year 1962 and has been MP five times. He also served as the Minister of industries from 1982 – 1983 and as the minister of steel from 2009-2011 in the Union and Minister of MSME from 2011-2012. He served as the chief minister in 1977,1979,1980 and 2012 for Himachal Pradesh.
