The Trinamool Congress was amused by a full-page newspaper advertisement designed to boost the image of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, which accused him of promoting the work of the Bengal administration in order to win elections.
The advertising, which was produced by the Uttar Pradesh government, focuses on Yogi Adityanath's government's development efforts in the state during the last five years, which is often seen as one of the least developed in the country. The images, however, which were supposed to showcase the alterations, landed the party in controversy.
A photo of Kolkata appears in a part of the collage underneath the advertisement — a flyover with the city's signature blue-white paint and yellow taxis. Many social media users have identified the flyover as Mamata Bannerjee's government's 'Ma Flyover' in central Kolkata.Social media users have also identified two buildings in the ad by the same flyover as belonging to a five-star hotel company.
The Trinamool Congress scored a landslide victory over the BJP in the just concluded assembly elections. Hundreds of party leaders, workers, and fans ridiculed the BJP and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister via Twitter.Senior Trinamool leader and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, made a scathing statement."Transforming UP for Yogi Adityanath means stealing images from infrastructure seen in Bengal under Mamata Banerjee's leadership and using them as his own! Looks like the 'DOUBLE ENGINE MODEL' has MISERABLY FAILED in BJP's strongest state and now stands EXPOSED for all!"
He tagged both Chief Ministers in his post."Lol the image on the bottom left is from Kolkata - of the Maa Flyover. Zoom in & you can also see the iconic Kolkata yellow ambassador taxi on the flyover. "Transforming UP" means spending millions on newspaper ads around India & stealing pics of development in Kolkata?" stated by party leader Saket Gokhale via Twitter.
